- Listening or holding a hand
- Helping patients write or tell their life stories
- Cooking, light household chores
- Typing, answering phones and filing
- Preparing mailings
- Baking for patients and families
- Sewing projects
- Assisting hospice aides at Taylor House
- Gardening
- Being a grief companion by calling or visiting with grieved families
- Assist with grief support groups
- Provide professional talents including hair stylist/barber, musician, attorney, entertainers, massage therapist, etc…
- Stay with actively dying patients who desire not to die alone (11th Hour Volunteer).
Hospice volunteers can give as little or as much time as they wish. Some volunteers donate several hours each week while others commit to a few hours each month. Volunteers have the option of setting a specific schedule or working on an on-call basis. There are also projects that can be done on your own time.
